I've spent more than a decade around the trades
I've worked around equipment, manufacturers, operators, and trades business owners for most of my career. Over that time, I've seen the same problems show up again and again: good owners buried in the day-to-day, carrying too much in their heads, and struggling to build companies that can run without them.

The method
The Outta the Weeds approach
I look at a trades business the same way I'd look at a machine that isn't running right: find where the strain is coming from, understand what's causing it, and fix that before adding anything else.
Over the years, I've seen the same issues show up in a familiar order: daily chaos, weak systems, unclear direction, thin margins, dependent crews, and an owner who can't step away.
That pattern became the Six Cs. The work starts with figuring out where the business is stuck today, then building from there in the right order.
01
Chaos
Identify what's burning and why
02
Control
Build simple systems that run without you
03
Clarity
Define your direction and stop chasing the wrong work
04
Cash
Price correctly and pay yourself like a real owner
05
Crew
Build accountability instead of dependency
06
Clock Out
Create a business that functions without you in the middle of everything
Track record
The experience behind the framework
10+ Years Around the Trades
I spent a decade around equipment, operators, manufacturers, and contractors, seeing how these businesses work from the inside.
128+ Operator Interviews
Those conversations gave me a close look at the decisions, mistakes, and pressures owners deal with once the work starts growing.
Hundreds of Businesses
I've worked with owners across excavation, HVAC, electrical, landscaping, plumbing, and other trades, and watched the same business problems repeat across all of them.
Built in My Own Companies
I've had to build systems, delegate decisions, train people, and get myself out of work that used to depend on me. A lot of what I teach came from having to solve those problems myself.
Why I built Tulboxx
After years of reviewing contractors' estimates, I kept seeing the same problem: good work poorly explained. One night in late 2022, I fed a rough estimate into ChatGPT to see if it could clean it up. It worked, and I knew we were onto something.
It took about three years to turn that experiment into Tulboxx, software built for smaller trades businesses. Today, it helps contractors:
- Build professional proposals from rough notes or voice recordings.
- Track customers and jobs with everything organized in one place.
- Manage follow-ups and invoices so fewer opportunities and payments slip through the cracks.
